Our Charity of the Year – The Steve Bernard Foundation
We are pleased to announce that we have chosen The Steve Bernard Foundation to be our charity of the year for 2023.
Our main area of support is through pre-paid funeral planning. For every funeral plan we sell a donation will be made to the charity. We shall also be holding our now annual charity golf day in July at Remedy Oak Golf Club to help raise funds for them.
The Steve Bernard Foundation was set up in memory of the much-loved son, brother and friend, Stephen Bernard, who passed away in a car accident in November 2005, whilst studying to become a PE teacher at Chichester University. Stevie B, as he was known to everyone, had a great passion for all things sport and it was his aim to inspire children into the positive benefits of sport and give them opportunities to take part in a number of sports. This gave us a simple desire to keep his memory alive through the form of sport. In 2006, the Steve Bernard Foundation was formed with the aim to support sporting projects in the local area.
Since its formation, they have raised over £600,000 and have supported over 700 sports projects across 65 sports in Dorset, Hampshire, Sussex and the 3rd World.
The charity, run entirely by volunteers, has raised over £600,000 and have supported over 800 projects across 65 different sports in our area. They have helped thousands of children and adults in sport, from grassroots, local sports clubs, many dozens of schools, elite athletes including Olympians, county, national and world champions, Invictus Gold Medallists and hundreds of disability athletes through our partnerships with Poole Athletics Club & Victoria School in Branksome by supplying them with numerous Frame-runners, kit, equipment and Wheelchairs.
They have also arranged Blind Archery classes and Tandem Bike riding for Bournemouth Blind School which really opened up a new world for their members!
You can find out more about our charity through our website www.stevebernardfoundation.com and if you would like to help more in the future, please talk to one of us today or by email.
